What happens if I lose?

You repay nothing to Hello Justice. The fees we paid your lawyer remain our cost. The agreement, which you read before signing, describes what happens if the case fails.

I do not have a lawyer. What should I do?

File your case: we can refer you to a specialised partner lawyer for your type of dispute. A client who already has a lawyer keeps them.

How much must be at stake in my dispute?

At least €100,000, against a solvent opposing party. Below that threshold, the eligibility test flags it and points to other options, such as legal expenses insurance or legal aid.

Why is the analysis charged?

It takes our team’s time on your case: the amount at stake, the opposing party’s ability to pay, and the length and cost of the proceedings. The fee pays for that work and is due whatever the opinion. The test and filing remain free.

Against a bank, an insurer or a property developer, Hello Justice funds disputes with at least €100,000 at stake and pays your lawyer’s fees. Our commission is taken from the sums recovered, only in the event of success.

Hello Justice pays them during the proceedings, in the amounts and on the dates set in the agreement you sign with your lawyer and us.
Your lawyer and your decisions.
You keep the lawyer of your choice. Going ahead, settling or stopping remains your decision, taken with your lawyer. Hello Justice does not run the proceedings.
Nothing to repay if the case fails.
If the case fails, you repay nothing to Hello Justice. The fees we paid your lawyer remain our cost.

How funding works.

The mechanism in detail

Step 1
Free
You test your eligibility.
A few questions about the dispute, the amount at stake and the opposing party, to see whether your case fits what we fund.
Step 2
Free
You file your case.
A specialised partner lawyer reviews the characteristics of the dispute, limitation (the time limit to act), whether the documents are complete and the reasonable chances of success. Not every case is accepted.
Step 3
Flat fee
We analyse the case.
We look at the amount at stake, the opposing party’s ability to pay, and the length and cost of the proceedings. You receive a written report and a funding opinion, favourable or not.
Step 4
Agreement
You sign the agreement.
You, your lawyer and Hello Justice sign it. It sets the fees we pay your lawyer and our commission.
Step 5
On success
Your lawyer runs the proceedings.
Hello Justice pays the fees on the agreed dates. Proceedings usually last two to four years, sometimes longer.
